How it is computed
- 1Two different measuresThe labour force survey (Eurostat, ages 15–74) counts people without work who are seeking and available for work. Registered unemployment (GUS) counts people registered at labour offices relative to the labour force. It is higher because some registrants work informally or are not job-seeking.
- 2For EU comparisonsFor comparisons with other countries use only the survey measure – one definition across the EU. Monthly data are seasonally adjusted.
Frequently asked questions
What is Poland’s unemployment rate?
About 3 % on the survey measure (3.1 % on average in 2025), half the EU average. GUS registered unemployment was 5.7 % in 2025. The latest monthly data are on the chart.
Why are there two unemployment rates?
Because they measure different things: the survey asks whether someone seeks and can take a job, while registered unemployment counts labour-office records. Registration also gives health insurance, so some who are not job-seeking register.
Where is unemployment lowest in Poland?
In 2025 in Wielkopolskie (3.5 % registered), followed by Mazowieckie (4.3 %) and Śląskie (4.4 %). Highest in Podkarpackie and Warmińsko-mazurskie (9.3 %).
